Memory Design

Memory System Design

The computer has a memory that is designed with the latest semiconductor technology to meet the needs of complex applications and heavy data storage. The memory of a computer includes the various components that are involved in storing and accessing data, including static and dynamic random-access memory, cache, and permanent storage devices like solid-state drives (SSD) and hard drives. The design of the memory is an important aspect of the architecture of the computer, as its performance is greatly affected by the design and parameters of the memory. The memory system design must incorporate economic effectiveness, storage capacity enhancement, and fast execution of applications.

The access time is a measure of the operating speed. This is the time that a system takes to read the operation. The technology aims to design the architecture in such a way that it improves the operating speed and reduces the access time with the increased data storage dimensions. The temporary memory available inside the computer makes the system operate quickly. This memory has direct access to the control processing unit, but the information is only available when it is connected to power, so it is known as volatile memory. This is also called internal memory. External memory is referred to as the permanent storage of massive data, is slower in speed than internal memory, and is always non-volatile.
